Outback Excel 300 Gas BBQ
An independent consumer watchdog ‘Which?’ report in the summer of 2011 chose the Excel 300 as a ‘Best Buy’ from among 22 UK barbecues tested. Judges said the Outback barbecue’s cooking performance with lava rocks meant “food was moist and tender”, and concluded “it’s also sturdy with a good quality finish”.

Pros: Looks good.
Cons: Can be a bit fiddly to assemble.
Product was deliverd in good time from seller. If you follow the instructions you will have no problems assembling, and you should allow approximately 1.5 hours. Certainly looks the part when assembled, but have not used yet due to dire weather?
BBQ was easy to assemble but a little time consuming (took me about 2 hours). The instructions suggested that 2 people are required but apart from a couple of minor balancing issues it can be accomplished fairly easily with one person. The product is well made and the parts fit together nicely, it looks good, and there were no issues with build quality. There is a minor matter that to move the BBQ you have to grab the legs (its a bit awkward) but not a big thing. Overall we are really pleased with the product and just need an improvement in the weather to be able to use it.
Pros: Sturdy, looks good, porcelain grill.
Cons: Bit of a flimsy lid.
In the past we've always bought own brand barbecues from Tesco, Homebase places like that. We thought we'd splash out on an Outback and it was worth the extra. The plastic bits give it a solid chunky feel and the legs and wheels are good and sturdy. The gas bottle holder is cleverly placed over the axle so its very maneuverable. The burner has flames coming out of it in all the right places and lights easily so thats good. I comes supplied with lava rock, a regulator and a cover, all of which do their intended job nicely. If there is an criticism I would say the lid if a bit flimsy but the sturdy handle stiffens it up a bit. The best thing is the porcelain coated grill, which even after a few cooks and coated in burnt on bits of burger and sausage, cleans up very easily and looks like new each time.
Pros: Looks nice, easy to store. Appears good quality. Alloy burners should last.. Good heat control.
Cons: Takes a while to build and parts can be difficult to line up for bolt holes.. Otherwise ok.
This is a good medium size barbecue that works well. Be prepared to spend a lot of time building it up. It can be really fiddly. Some of the bolt holes do not line up and it takes a bit of persuasion to get parts to fit. The lid handle being an example. It says you need two people to build it. You need patience.
Pros: Easy to use. Great recess for gas bottle with safety strap
Cons: Took three hours to put together
Good BBQ to use once built. Fiddly to construct and needs two to do it. Instructions not great but YouTube video really helped figure it all out. Promptly dispatched, well packaged and all parts present.
Pros: Durable, Looks good, Well Made
Cons: Expensive, Fiddly to install
Excellent family BBQ. Very good construction and high quality. Does require self assembly and at times may require two persons assistance. Some items missing on delivery but was resolved via Plumworld customer service dept. But be aware no cover comes with this item, as has been advised on various sites saying it does.
Pros: Good looking, and sturdy.
Cons: You need to set aside time to build the barbeque it is not a five minute job.
We are very pleased with our new Barbeque. It arrived at just the right time. It wasn't too difficult to put together, although you do need to follow the instructions.
It looks good and perhaps more importantly it does its job and the food cooked on it was fantastic!
